    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

Maybe they should try running the durban street race at night. Would be fun i suppose.

Bernie is such a greedy little buggar aint he. Never mind we dont need his singapore race.

I would be surprised if Brands isn't on there. It's held some of the best races over the last couple of years. There needs to be a british round. Bernie probably wouldn't let it go to Silverstone, Donington wouldn't suit the cars and the others like Oulton Park aren't up to staging international motor racing. Brands is the obvious choice, and we need a race in the country that is the home of motorsport. Is it true about a USA round for season 4?

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

With A1GP moving its base away from Silverstone soon it is easier to drop the island from the schedule if they require -- still no news on Portugal being new base.

As much as I believe USA should be in the race schedule I am not convinced that american circuits will see how they can make any money by hosting a round.

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

i heard rumours that laguna seca and sentul are both coming back. Not sure i want to see Laguna back. Hey, we should go to Long Beach, have that as our street race, then move the South African race to Kyalami!!! Perfect!

GP2 and MotoGp are also held at the Sepang circuit and for Night Race Bahrain Circuit is on top of mine list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see many fans have left this fanzone and specially there is no one of Pakistan here at this website instead of me. Where have they gone?

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

Well then: to remind everyone: Fans, teams and officials spent 18 million euros during the last visit of A1GP to Zandvoort. It cost the circuit roughly 5 million euro to host the A1 round. I'd say 13 euro profit for the whole region.

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

The thing is, if the event is well enough publicised, unlike Laguna Seca in season 1, then there is a huge profit to be made from hosting A1. Brands Hatch is another race that is very well attended.

I think A1GP needs to have more than 10 races as well. More like 15 would be good, but theres the constraints that come with it being a winter series. What tracks do people want to see in the future then?

Well Richard you are listing the Number One destination for motorsport -- Dutch fans would turn out in their thousands for a motorized 'zimmer' frame race Wink

Not only wasn't Seca advertised well it was hit by Heavy Rain followed by Snow and the track was only cleared fit for racing at the middle of the week. I think 12 evenly spaced races would make a perfect season.

I would like to see Laguna Seca on the calendar, maybe Long Beach. But I prefer Laguna Seca than Long Beach.

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

You never know. Round 9 is a total TBA - could be Germany? Unlikely though it would mean 5 European races in a 11 race series. Probably going to be USA round 9. Pleeeeeeeeeeease be Long Beach!!!! My fave USA circuit!!! I think South Africa will go to Kyalami, China to SHanghai, and i have no idea where the British race will be if it's not Brands HAtch. An no eastern creek either, bit of a surprise?!

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

Long Beach runs in April in 2009. They have signed a three-year deal with the Indy Racing League for them to fill the void left by Champ Car.

Of course I'd love to see Laguna back, as it's about an hour for me to get there. Certainly, Laguna could use an open-wheel event again, as could the area since the San Jose Grand Prix's demise (and it was the SJGP that took open-wheel racing away from Laguna). With Laguna also losing MotoGP recently, they might be keen, but let's not forget that they also have events for the American Le Mans Series, the Rolex Grand-American Sportscar Championship, and the AMA Superbikes, so they're not exactly hurting for events even if it's less than they've been used to in recent years.

Hey, I've got it! With all the rampant enthusiasm shown on this board, it's obvious! There should be a street race in Pakistan!

And what about Rockingham? it could be a good venue Smile what do you think?
