For the south african event i was thinking to kyalami. This circuit has hosted f1 in the past and could be a good place, dont you think so?

Well that was 15 years ago but yes it would work well for A1GP.

Durban is Dead -- Thank You Durban!

The A1 Grand Prix SA team’s thanked Durbanites for helping to put South Africa on the race circuit map…

It’s been officially confirmed that Durban will no longer play host to the next South African leg, as more powerful A1 cars from Ferrari require track changes we can’t accommodate.

A1’s chief executive here, Pete da Silva, says Durban’s done a fantastic job for the last two years.

“Yeah, I must say that it’s my second home is in Durban, so I’m personally disappointed but as a South African it was first and foremost going that I wanted to make sure that South Africa would have an A1 GP going forward.”

So, which South African city’s going to host the next race in February 2009? Jo’burg or Cape Town?

    Da Silva was tight-lipped.

“I can’t say at the moment. We are in discussions right now and close to negotiating a completed settlement but I cannot say at this point where it it, but watch this space in the next couple of weeks. I think there will be an announcement made.”

Thanx Keeper!!!!!!!!!!!  Pakistan should have a chance to host A1GP bcz if Indonesia have then why not Pakistan?

They can talk with our President and the trackwill be there in a year only!!!!!!!!!!

Or if a street race then Main Boulevard can host it and i challenge it will be as much or more good than Durban!!!!!!!!!!

But if we only get a chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                           Go Go GREEN GAZELLE!!!!!!!!!!

                             Go Go Team Pakistan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

As a south african, i am both sad and happy about durban. obviously i am very sad about it being removed. I've had so much friends saying how cool the durban track was. CAR magazine of South africa even described it as a mini monaco. Then again i am happy that there's a chance that it will be closer to where i stay. durban is current ly too far. my money at the moment would be kayalami!

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

good that S.A have a race confirmed good news about Kyalami  (even if you are walloping us in the cricket at the moment - what a surprise)!!

as you say Cam only 3 races left to go as it were.

Kyalai looks to have changed very little since the early 90s from what im seeing on the web.  wont be the most amazing track, but for a1 it should do well.
