    Next season,what to expect?

Not long to go now,new car, same team(the best team in A1GP),new cicuits but same old governing body who still cant realease calender without the dreaded TBC dotted throughout. How do A1GP expect to be treated on the same pedestal as F1 when they cant get the basics right?

anyway this is still the best motor racing series that exists,so what can Team Ireland expect this season.i think with any bit of luck(that we never seem to get)that we have to be front runners this season.if the guys get the new car running aswell as the old one  at the end of last season we may even be challenging for the world title come British leg.how cool would that be.0.3 secs fastest lap at Brands.Amazing! we allready know that we have the best driver on the track.

only little reservation i have is, it allways seems that with something new it takes us a little time to adapt.it may be a case that patience is our vertue, but just as last season came to a close,we were the best, then they go and change the bloody car and its back to the drawing board for all.dont get me wrong its great that Ferrari is on board but i just hope we come out of the blocks this time around.

Mark, what is the feeling within the camp? any new sponsorship? wheres me caps?

    Niall

Well Ireland have the same opportunity as every team as the new car/engine/tyres/electronics produce a level playing field for Season 4.

Although I believe that teams with ex-F1 engineers may have an edge.

It is going to be fun watching who comes out ahead in the first 3 races.

    Sleep???? Whats that? Wink

Nothing seems to be leaking on UK round -- only rumour surrounds London Street Race but I don't think so -- if they turned down the money-spinning F1 I don't see them shutting parts of London for A1GP.

My hunch is Brands Hatch again but who knows -- not even A1GP I think.

i wouldnt say you are too far of the mark when you say that A1GP dont even know yet.

i cant see a street race happening in London for reasons you said.i think there is actually a better chance of Dublin holding a street race in the future.

im just afraid that if they leave it too long before making a decision, they actually miss out on Brands and end up at Snett, oulton or Cadwell.

If it aint broken,DONT FIX IT!

    Re: Next season,what to expect?

Maybe they have upped the asking price for the British round and Brands has said 'Not Worth It'

    Re: Next season,what to expect?

Brands is where it all started -- makes it hard to drop it from the calendar.

But if A1GP can get a street race in London (or maybe Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, ...?) that would make the pain of losing Brands Hatch a lot easier to handle... Wink

It would be a pity if Brands wasn't on calender, but i think Donnington Park would be a good substitute as its fast plus the fact that East Midlands airport is nearby would make attending fairly easy.hopefully Brands will remain though.

    Re: Next season,what to expect?

    Hi James

Please see my comments on British A1GP 2009. Basically however, I question whether or not there is anywhere now on the British Mainland that will properly support A1GP over the next few years until it achieves the same status as F1 or Moto GP or World Superbikes. Attracting considerably less than 10,000 paying fans to Brands, both the circuit and the series must seriously look at the balance sheet and make the sort of decisions that might come hard to some fans but ensures the future and success of the series.

A1GP (as we know), are right on the brink now of becoming hugely successful worldwide and with the help of Ferrari this can only accelerate this fantastic series. It's no wonder really why they cannot give out a full calendar yet, because they HAVE to get this financially right and go to where they can potentially get the biggest turnout.

A series of this importance and size cannot race in front of a fanbase that wouldn't even give credence to a Division 2 Football Club! The hierachy behind the A1GP series are looking to get it right - not just for now but for the long term future.

Hello, here is a short note of a Dutch A1GP fan.

I'm fan of Ireland and the Netherlands. But when the second race of the 2008 season comes to Zandvoort in Holland i like to wear a team Ireland shirt.Big Smile

The A1GP Logo is heavily controlled and only licensed to companies that pay for the privilege of using it for commercial reasons.

If you go to the Irish website you will find a link for 'official' merchandise but any others would be stamped on by the A1GP legal team.
