    2008/09 Calendar

So, the new calendar's gonna be released on Monday. What tracks do we reckon will be on there (or not)?

Personally i aint suprised Italy have got a race now Ferrari are on board, and Zandvoort is just legendary. Bit like Brands Hatch. I've heard thats stioll gonna be the finale, plus a german race as well (maybe Oschersleben?). Anyway, with 2 days to go, this is what i think the calendar will look like:

    1. Mugello, Italy

    2. Circuit Park Zandvoort, The Netherlands

    3. Motopark Oschersleben, Germany

    4. Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia

    5. Sentul Circuit, Indonesia

    6. Taupo Motorsport Park, New Zealand

    7. Eastern Creek International Raceway, Australia

    8. Durban City Circuit, South Africa

    9. Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Mexico

    10. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, USA

    11. Shanghai International CIrcuit, China

    12. Brands Hatch Race Circuit, Great Britain

Wot do you reckon then guys?

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

Of course there are also the rumours about Durban being axed from the calendar. Id b gutted if durban werent there, we need a street race in a1gp, its something different - adds a bit of variety don't you think. If not durban i think they would have to go to kyalami. i know its not what it used to be, but imo the modern day layout is quality, and despite what people say, it does flow. Just look at the GP Masters event there the other year! What ever happened to gp masters anyway?

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

Sepang is pretty much confirmed aswell. You can find the dates on their site.

Brno also lists A1GP for 2008 as an event, but rumour has we won't go there this time.

No surprises then with Sepang - that was always going to be on there. Brno i'm glad there getting rid of,. I hope Brands Hatch is still on there though.  I would be surprised if it isn't. Does anyone know anything about the american round?

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

well maybe if durban gets axed, maybe monaco could be in there and i think that would be awsome, well actually its a bit late in the year but then a1 might have a much bigger calendar then the last 3 seasons, i always thought it was a bit too short

Monaco is absolutely brilliant and it deserves a place in the A1GP calendar!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's see but i would say that Durban should be out bcz it is worse in front of Monaco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

Yeah i agree Monaco would be brilliant but it aint gonna happen. We do need a street circuit though. What about Singapore? (It goes underneath a grandstand.) Its hosting the first f1 night race, it could host the a1gp night race as well!

And not for season 4 but maybe for season 5 i reckon we could see an indian race, especially with the f1 race there in 2010. Ther's no reason why a track coulsnt do both. After all, Sepang does a1gp and f1.

     I WANT A NIGHT RACE!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

It costs Monaco a fortune to run the F1 race and only works because F1 brings a fortune plus more to pay for it -- never ever will A1GP be at Monaco.

Singapore chose F1 over A1GP and I doubt that Bernie will allow another 'World' series like A1GP to race there.

India are pencilled in for 2 races in the future.

Personally I hope Durban stays on the calendar -- I believe it will still be in the schedule on Monday.

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

I see your point, i dont think monaco will ever happen. A1GP's not a big enough series yet. Doesn't make enough money. I love the Durban race, and i hope it does stay. Bernie hasn't stopped Sepang hosting A1 as well as F1, but i do think that we need a night race, just for a bit of variety. Any news on Brands Hatch being on the new calendar?

    Re: 2008/09 Calendar

A1GP will never make enough money -- one F1 team spends enough money per season to run the whole A1GP series for a season.

Bernie has certain areas of the world that he wants for himself and writes clauses into the contracts that give him veto over other series if he feels fit.

As I said the Singapore contract was a straight fight between F1 and A1GP -- both have their Asia HQ in Singapore -- almost certain it is in contract that only F1 allowed to run night race there.

I believe we will see Brands on the new schedule but there are rumours that it won't be -- I really hope they are wrong.
