    Congratulations John Surtees OBE

John Surtees has been given an OBE for his services to motorsport and charity in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Surtees remains unique for winning world titles in both motorcycling and F1. He was already a seven-time champion on two wheels when he committed fully to car racing in 1960, and just four years later he completed the set by winning the 1964 F1 championship for Ferrari.

He continued to race until 1972, eventually establishing his own Surtees Racing Organisation team, although the squad couldn't replicate its Formula 2 success at the top level and disbanded in 1978.

Surtees remains heavily involved in motorsport - recently running Great Britain's entry in the A1GP series, and overseeing the racing career of his 17-year-old son Henry, who is currently competing in Formula Renault in the UK.
