What was going on with the clock?

Well I don't know what everyone has been complaining about, I thought the racing today was fantastic.

A lot of people have also posted that they don't like the new car. Well, look at the pics of the 2009 spec F1 Williams. The A1 GP car is about to become far better looking than a Formula 1 car.

In fact, the only remaining problem I can see is the quality of the drivers. I'm not apologising for saying that I'm a huge F1 fan. Someone else has posted here that that F1 has been given a new lease of life by a "f**kwit" named Lewis Hamilton. Well, until such time as the series attracts such drivers such as that particular "f**kwit" then its always going to be second best in terms of appeal. You're just not going to see Robbie Kerr or Oliver Jarvis on the front page of the Daily Star, which means your average joe won't be watching.

Anyway, onto the real point of my post. Did anyone else notice something distinctly odd about the countdown clock today? Look at your recordings everyone, around the time of the last safety car the clock rapidly speeds up!! Did the organisers arrange this to ensure that the race finished under the safety car and there was a chance that no more F2005 - GAs, sorry, A1GP cars got damaged?

    What do you think?

Yeah, it seemed the clock had a power-boost button as well. Big Smile

Seriously, I saw it happening twice and thought it was a glitch from
the TV transmission over here (RTL GP) because it kept jumping a
few frames from time to time... but now that you mention it as well,
I don't know what to think of it anymore... anyone else noticed this?

Now that you say that, yes I've noticed it too.

could carry some truth. The more accidents the less time they have to ship all the stuff to China track.
A1GP allready were low on parts and did a splendid job to have the cars ready for Zandvoort.
To prevent "do or die" actions in the last lap of the race I wouldnt find it strange that they ended the race premature.

Re: What was going on with the clock?

Frankly I think that most of the race would have normally be run under the safety car if it had been run by most officials around the world.. I do commend the Zandvoort officals for keeping all the excitement going as long as they did. I did however cringe a couple of times when I saw marshals running around the circuit collecting cars, under only yellow flags.(especially knowing drivers attitudes to yellow flags) Anyway for to long the sport has had to err on the over safey side and was refreshing to see the pendulum swing the other way. I think the fact that the race ended as good as under the safety car takes nothing away from the fact that this was a very entertaining race. As A1 seems to always do.

Re: What was going on with the clock?

The Feature Race ran to a full duration of 70 minutes +1 lap.

What the live timing was doing, I do not know as it wasnt working for me during the feature race or alot of others for that matter.
