    Chengdu

Well done team portugal,a brilliant drive.i really fancied an Ireland doulbe but you guys deserved the feature win.

as for team Ireland, what a great weekend.fantastic victory in the sprint and a brilliant strategy in the feature after a bad start.

we are now 2nd in the championship and with a bit of luck i think that we will be there or ther abouts at the end of the season.

by the way,why was there no pit stop in the sprint?

well done lads and thanks for making a the last 2 dark, wet and cold Irish  mornings feel so hot.

    yahoooooooooooooo

For some reason they decided it was unsafe at Chengdu to have a Sprint pit stop.

    Re: Chengdu

Allard Kalff said it was because they were not sure the wheelnuts would be working properly yet. Some teams had problems with them at Zandvoort.

To be honest: I didn't miss the mandatory pitstop in the sprint race at all. It also wouldn't cause a flood of tears here if they left it completely in future...Smile

    Re: Chengdu

Especially in a series were the cars are so close in performance, I think pits stops give those in mid pack a chance to capitalize on mistakes in the pits as well as how the yellow flags may screw with strategies.

Nah must admit I second this point. In the Feature Race its fine, and it does help teams in the mid-pack tis true, but the sprint is, by definition, meant to be a sprint from lights-to-flag - and therefore not interrupted by mandatory pitstops. That's my take anyway.

    Re: Chengdu

I have to say, Chengdu really is poor excuse for a racing track. Ive never seen such a bumpy track !!! And did anyone else notice how dusty the pit lane was ?

Cant believe A1GP agreed to go there.

It was certainly better than the excuse for a road circuit we had in Beijing but unfortunately I have to agree it was certainly a step backwards.

    Re: Chengdu

First I have to say that it was a good idea from A1GP to visit Chengdu in my opinion. It always should draw more attention from local residents if you visit a track which doesn't host international events regularly. Then regarding the bumps: I thought it would be a specialty of A1GP to visit different kind of circuits - modern ones like Sepang, classic ones like Brands Hatch or Mexico City and unusual ones like Taupo. Some with tarmac as flat as a pancake and others with a bumpy one. That's why I don't think Chengdu was a shame for A1GP. Good drivers should be able to cope with all conditions.

Whether A1GP should come back is another thing though. I agree that the layout doesn't suit single seaters very much...
