I hope the Queensland Government has not made a mistake with their decision? No parts and no cash for A1GP? $11 million of QLD tax payers money has gone into this agreement.

    Re: NO PARTS FOR A1GP

Well people have said that the season would never start, then they said Zandvoort would be cancelled, then only half the field would race in Chengdu...blah blah blah.

In the end there did not seem to be any problems in Chengdu, and the whole thing seems to be becoming more and more financially viable over time, with more sponsors coming on board.

A1GP is signing long term agreements, and the amount of activity from them suggests that they are not about to fall over.

In the current economic climate all business across all fields are carefully managing their cashflow. I think A1GP are now being careful and only spending when and where they have to, but I feel confident that they are around for the long term.

And regarding testing...Lebanon did test at Snetterton prior to the season didn't they? And A1GP never tests between races once the season has started, as the cars are all in transit. So where and when does this team Lebanon person think they should be testing???

    Hi Kiwi

Thanks for answering that in the proper way. As you know, the series costs millions of dollars to run and with the current climates of course there is going to be always cash flow problems. There will be plenty of spare parts to be coming through now. Production have had to get the cars on the track and like any other project, spares happen after the cars are running. Time has been so tight to get everything ready and like you said, Chengdu was a very good indication of how things are starting to come together very well. It was also fortunate because there was very little crash damage and the break now after Malaysia will be much needed to really catch up. A1GP is, however, getting stronger by the day.

Normally testing not allowed, but due to lateness of production of cars ,several tests at Snetterton were scheduled for just after Zandvoort race, which had to be cancelled for what were finacial reasons. This did include Lebanon which was due to test... Hopefully A1 are now getting a grip of the problems and the series can get back to a smoother operation.. Finger crossed

    Re: NO PARTS FOR A1GP

If you're concerned about A1GP finances here's what to do:

Buy tickets and attend the races, pass the word and get people to buy
tickets and attend the races. Watch the A1GP races on TV if you can't
go to the track that day, keep the rating up. Get friends enthused on A1,
or if you have a company that can afford it, sponsor your nation's team!

That's all we can do as fans... unless you're good at raising money. Wink

Billy Karam was and still a Rally driver with a big palmares, he has driven  and won for team Rothmans during the glory days of motorsports in the 80s i follow the guy since i was a kid, as a rally driver he has nothing to prove, and the talk about him cheating to win is bullshit, he is still active in small events in France like the Andros Cup always with respectable results.

Let's see if he'll do a good job in A1 this season, i unfortunately watch A1GP on AB Moteurs where they emphasis mainly on the French drivers, i have seen no interviews yet with Billy.

     Regards
