    Why is Ebrahim a rookie?

Armaan Ebrahim did multiple A1GP races in the first 2 seasons, so how can he be A1 Team India's rookie?

Apparently if you're from a developing nation and you have had less then 3 top-10 finishes, you can be a rookie. If India counts as a developing nation, then I guess that's the reason?

Then again, we must remember that he was calle dup as a 16/17 year old in the first season when the team was really unorganised, so he didn't do a very bad job to finish 11th to be honest...

He's more mature now and India are much more professionally run, so if he races again I'm sure he will be better.

I hope so....but Team India this season looks to be not the strongest threat in a race...

But I think ....the most improved team right now is Team Malaysia...

India was great last year...but this year...idk wat happened to them....maybe their livery did brings them some bad luck...they should return to their sky-blue livery...

Team India does not looks so bad.. I think they are a midlevel team with a possible lucky podium.

However, they have to manage to make it through the first lap.

Lol I think this assessment pretty much covers it to be honest! That's fundamentally where we'll be...though there were fluctuations last season and I can see them occuring again this season.

A bit surprised to see Armaan Ebrahim back to be honest. His 11th place finish in the Malaysian sprint race of Season 1 was an incredible achievement for one so young but after that he seemed to really struggle and after a while I don't think he liked being there. I remember it being hinted that one of the reasons they bought Parthiva Sureshwaren into the team during the 2nd season is because Armaan had lost motivation and Parthiva was bringing fresh enthusiasm to the team. Having said that, maybe he (Armaan) feels he has unfinished business in the series, or that the lull in motivation was merely confidence-related, or that he can learn from Narain Karthikeyan.

Narian's not bad...in fact, India is not that bad all. They are a team with a lot of potential

Would not be surprised if Ebrahim had lost confidence before, it really was a case of throwing him in the deep end and just hoping he would swim.

Sureshwaren was slow, not up to A1GP level.

Narain is good but if results don't improve they will have to try and get Chandhok, who I think is better these days.

Off course, during seasons 1 and 2, Armaan's dad was big within team India, so I guess his appearance and subsequent disappearance may have something to do with that too.

Re: Why is Ebrahim a rookie?

Yeah I remember Chandhok doing the first 2 rounds of Season 1; then he left and I was really hoping he'd come back as there was a solid chance of points with him in the car. In the end I think one reason he left was a disagreement with the team, or with the team's management.

Now I get the feeling he is even better than he was then because of his experience in GP2, and also the team has changed quite a bit since the 1st series. I don't think there's a massive difference between him & Narain in terms of ability; instinct tells me Narain would probably be quicker over one lap but that Karun would give better technical feedback. The difference may be that Chandhok's career is still in the ascent to some degree; if he can stay another year in GP2 and do a good job he may get a role in F1 - either in testing or even a chance of a race seat. That would imply that for him A1 isnt currently that viable. Karthikeyan's career, on the other hand, has kind of levelled off since his time in F1 - and I think this is the kind of thing he enjoys and consequently considers somewhat more viable.

In a couple of seasons time though, who knows? We could have quite a pool of drivers looking to have a go in the team - including Karthikeyan and Chandhok - which would be pretty good to see.
